not to sound like a broken record but this is (one of the reasons) why history and literature are a tremendous salve to being a person alive at any one specific moment
honestly been getting weird reassurance from reading du fu and other ancient chinese poets and knowing people have faced the same struggle of caring deeply amidst a bumbling state
