How Gen X Became the Trumpiest Generation Alt-rocker Cherie Westrich’s journey may seem unusual, but given the strange political arc of her generation, it might not be. Now, though, there is no confusion: Generation X is safely Republican. One model from 2014 measuring only white voters through the 2012 election shows those born in the mid-to-late 1960s being the most Republican-leaning of all, more so than the older Boomers and Silent generation. In a poll released in late April by Marist/NPR that separated voters by generation, Generation X had the highest level of disapproval for Biden and were the generation most likely to say they would vote for a Republican candidate in the midterms if they were held that day. While voters have historically tended to be more conservative as they age, that has accelerated with Generation X. In fact, Tom Bonier, the CEO of TargetSmart, a Democratic data firm, told me that Generation X has now become the most conservative generation, surpassing the Boomers in their rightward tilt.

The same people who yell and scream about “ethnic cleansing” and “forced displacement” are the ones who are voluntarily departing Gaza and heading to the safety, comfort, and luxury of Qatar. Of course, I wish safety and well-being upon all who genuinely want that for themselves and their families. Nevertheless, I ridicule, detest, and deride those who want it for themselves but offer useless, worthless lectures to deny it to others. And what is with the Israeli authorities? Allowing the exit of those people when I have begged for months on end to evacuate a hundred plus Christian families in Gaza who have Visas in Western countries and need safe passage out? I have spoken to Australian, Spanish, European, Jordanian, Emirati, American, and Israeli officials to help those desperate Christians leave Gaza – to no avail. Not to mention, elements of the Catholic and Orthodox churches don’t want to be actively involved in evacuating Christians out of Gaza, because they worry about the disappearance of Christian heritage from the tiny enclave, which has seen the number of its Christian inhabitants reduced to a few hundred, thanks to Hamas’s rule over the past eighteen years. Meanwhile, Hamas and Hamas-adjacent Gazans who left for Qatar received the red-carpet treatment, clearly indicating how much pull and weight Doha has with Israel and the United States, particularly in the aftermath of the ceasefire. What a shame…

Going to point out that this mayor did not have to go to the White House for a photo op to prevent similar ICE thuggery but I'll bet a lot of people don't even know his name.
The Bay Area, so far, has largely escaped the kind of ICE tactics seen in other cities, including Chicago and Los Angeles. A threat by President Trump to send federal agents to San Francisco fizzled in October after Mayor Daniel Lurie and tech executives implored him to stop. Ever since Trump sent thousands of National Guard troops to L.A. in June, however, the number of daily food recipients here dropped 40%, from roughly 100 to close to 60, Powell said. Taking food into the community has restored those clients, and found even more who are grateful for groceries.
