This is outrageous. These Iranian Christians will be killed if they go back. Nothing the govt does is compassionate or individualized. Some countries need priority asylum. Iran is one.
I’m choked up seeing this—it’s shameful.

Iranian refugees got snatched by “immigration agents” dressed like bounty hunters in West LA’s Sawtelle neighborhood.

We’re really about to send them back to a country we just bombed? A regime known for jailing, torturing, and killing its own people?

I can’t help but feel that Bluesky has been terrible for the Left. With a large number of liberals leaving X, they’ve simply conceded a good chunk of their cultural influence. They simply don’t have much ability to mobilize opinion. It’s almost as if they’ve disappeared.

Is cancel culture silencing open debate? There are risks to shutting down opinions we disagree with
Yes, it is important to censure harmful and offensive speech. But there are ethical costs to widening the scope of our moral outrage to viewpoints that merely differ from our own.

Maybe because echo chambers are dangerous: "..both influence and coercion mathematically reduce the value of a consensus. Using Bayes’ theorem, the researchers found that, without freedom to dissent, an expert consensus can easily form around a false idea." mindmatters.ai/2021/05/cons...
