Finishing up our momentum unit with “Air bag in a bucket”. Sts make a crash cushion to reduce the force on a heavy object. Think reverse egg drop. It’s simple and easy for them to see what they should do. One class, 2 designs, reflect on the physics. Use a force plate to measure F and t.

It's been a hectic few days back from Spring Break. Here's the water bottle capacitor I've used. Little easier to build. I don't really get to capacitors anymore, unfortunately, but this has worked in the past.

I also do the colliding buggy lab practical. I either make them “chase” or move in opposite directions. I make one slower by inserting a bolt and washer combo I made. Once I remember the sizes of the parts I’ll post if interested.

Just started this book today based on a very strong recommendation by my physics teacher colleague. Not sure what I think of it so far…but giving it a chance.

Unbalanced force model lab practical today: determine how much extra mass to add into the system to achieve a given acceleration. All students use this set up but have a different acceleration. They data share to get the graphs on their CB to analyze. #iteachphysics
