Something is bringing him back to life every day, and this is his price for it keeping him on the earthen plane. A slow, slow death, from an overdose of adrenaline and water in his lungs. Excerpt of a work in progress fanfiction to be published on February 2nd. Excerpt as follows: On the first anniversary of February 2nd, Kurusu Akira visits a grave. He brings with him a bouquet of blue salvias and African violets, complemented by a smattering of leaves, sweet grasses, and baby’s breath. It hangs a little loosely in its plastic wrapper, where he’d held it safely on the old, creaky bus as it trudged its way slowly up the weather-beaten tar roads. The petals sway in the same winter breeze that ruffles his hair. They had been fresh when he took the first train of the morning over to Rafflesia, and then the second train out of the city, closer to his little countryside hometown than he’d originally thought; they’re even fresher now, standing against the grays and browns and tufted greens of the cemetery walkways, but curling in some from the cold, hiding from the bare bits of sun that drift beyond the veil of clouds.

i need to have this finished by 11/20 but the prospect is looking weaker and weaker my dudes. might be a lil late. still the shuake post interrogation room fic i've been working on since. uh. halloween
He can almost imagine Kurusu behind him, the bag with that infernal cat over his shoulder, the bullet hole in his forehead oozing steadily, mocking him, following him. “What, you’re cheating on me with convenience store coffee, too?" A pair of grey eyes behind cracked glasses suddenly flashes in the reflection of the store, right beside his own perfect, weary face.   Goro freezes where he stands, as a cold, dead hand dips its fingers into his collar, strokes lovingly over his jugular and the curve of his Adam's apple.  Kurusu’s voice is tar and honey, glazing in strings around his ear, lips crimson in the glass mirror. "Just killing me wasn’t enough for you, Akechi?” He can’t breathe. He can’t move. Kurusu smiles at him, blood in his teeth. “Bastard.” He whirls around with a gasp, pressing himself backwards into the metal body of the machine. There’s nobody else in the store except the cashier.
