Casual F2P gamer/Bluesky user. Plays a fairly wide variety of games. (Current HYV boycott status: Neutral. Likes if changes were made, but absolutely hate when casual chat gets derailed, unless we’re talking about global passives, in which case, fuck them)
HSR is the first game that truly tries to jump the shark by assigning Castorice a reviving global passive… and looks what we have now. I think all the controversy can be averted if the global passive is obtained by, for example, finishing the 3.2 story quest or a character quest for Castorice.

So, global passives have always been a thing, but most games that do them knows full well that people will hate them if the global passives get put into limited banner characters, so the global passives were mostly given out as rewards for storyline quests or other F2P friendly activities.

Okay, the community is just insufferable. And I know global passives has basically became a minor meme because of how controversial it was, but I am cutting in by saying that it’s not the global passive itself that’s the problem, but the execution.

Also, if you want them to be more like HI3’s leader skills, those “personal skills”… could also just be active only if the user is in the active party anyway. None of that BS about characters on the bench directly increasing the rest of the party’s performance by merely existing in your account.
March 29, 2025 at 9:35 AM
Then this means they will now have to write new personal skills for everyone… and considering how much the game’s balancing has been skewered over the last few years, yeah, you’re just probably going to pick the personal skill of the latest character and ignoring everyone else in the bench anyway.

…Shame the global passives sets a very bad precedent for the future though.
March 29, 2025 at 2:32 AM
Suddenly the upcoming Etheria Restart (which people on YT comments keep comparing to HSR despite it becoming clear to those who plays Dislyte that it’s basically that game’s spiritual successor) is looking very attractive and part 1 HI3’s power level doesn’t look so bad…
March 29, 2025 at 2:29 AM
…Oh boy, it only takes one mistake for all that goodwill and reputation they’ve been building up to go downhill. In that case, that one mistake is giving Castorice a passive that triggers even if she was not deployed into the active party, potentially leading to much worse global passives later.
March 28, 2025 at 10:42 PM
My logic is that even if Castorice’s banner did do well, that doesn’t change the fact that a large number of the audience as a whole will now recognize that the game is going on a bad path with powercreeping. As such, a massive audience will be left behind that rival games can use for themselves.
March 25, 2025 at 12:57 PM
I can already see HSR being basically a punching bag for rival gacha companies when the global passive mentioned in the leaks inevitably gets revealed to the public as a whole in the livestream and causes a massive broken base about whether they were fair or not.
March 25, 2025 at 12:52 PM
…Oh, and tagging @petipeti1232.bsky.social. Although that account was never active for the 4 months after it was initially created…
March 24, 2025 at 11:29 AM
I’m ready for pretty much every rival gacha game company to start mentioning “no global passives” at some point or another and for HSR to take a nosedive in popularity and leave a massive audience behind. Just taking a 1 year break so I can check back later when things may or may not be resolved.
March 24, 2025 at 11:25 AM
…Didn’t we already reached a conclusion last year that skin color doesn’t really matters for Hoyo’s cultural representation? Why are we bringing back that failed boycott?
March 23, 2025 at 11:07 PM
So with how Genshin’s situation has been turning out, I would suggest diversifying your loadout, because the games are most likely going to get better as a whole if proper competition is in play.
March 23, 2025 at 11:59 AM
We all know the old saying: “competition breeds creativity”. Now that WuWa came out, Genshin itself has also starts pushing out many long requested features starting from 4.8. And now, Reverse 1999 is starting to get a noticeable playerbase, and Etheria Restart is going pretty well in closed beta.

How is ZZZ like?
March 23, 2025 at 11:41 AM
🤦🤦‍♀️🤦‍♂️…When did the failed Hoyo boycott from last year made it here into a completely unrelated game on Bluesky?
March 23, 2025 at 5:00 AM
For example, HSR’s 2.7 update came with a glitch that causes Aventurine’s performance to be severely diminished (keep in mind he’s the number-1 sustain so far) and get unfixed for an entire update… and the compensation is just bundled with the usual 300 jades for all bug fixes combined.
March 10, 2025 at 6:50 AM
…that Kuro is very receptive about fixing that launch state and giving players lots of conpensation. Also, while WuWa just suffers from mostly visual and performance issues that doesn’t significantly affect the core gameplay, Hoyo’s games have suffered from lots of more game-breaking issues.
March 10, 2025 at 6:47 AM
Okay, I agree about no one being perfect, but I just have to mention that those “Hoyo shills” who declares that “WuWa could never match Genshin” due to its loads of release bugs are kind of hypocritical. I agree WuWa has one of the rustiest launches in the gacha game industry, but remember…

Now I wonder what will happen when BOTH Trump and Vance get ejected from the president rule by public protest… Will the democracy take over, or will the US have no ruler until the next election? Or will another fascist take on the president role and the cycle repeats? Not familiar with US politics.
March 3, 2025 at 3:27 AM
…then the game will start going on a path to death very soon. Sure, the dedicated fanbase will still remain, but the casuals will now know to stay clear of the game, because unless the game made staggering balance changes to resolve the issue, they will now know that things will only get worse.
