If you wanted three equal sized cakes, what size pan do you need?

(I should mention that they were restricted to digits 1,2,4,5, and 8 with no repetition!)

Also, some answers are “better” but require more thinking. When I asked for a fraction close to 45%, one group made 21/48 because it’s a bit less than 1/2, while another reasoned that 45/82 worked as 82 is close to 100. Which is actually closer aside, we appreciated different strategies!

I think it’d work for sure! I framed it as a game for buy-in but it’s really just an open-middle thinking task. Some questions have exact answers, but most require estimating and there might be several answers that are “close enough”. We didn’t actually keep score!
