yes. the pope can’t endorse a candidate in favor abortion. In 2016 he said (talking about the wall on the U.S.-Mexico border) that a person focused on building walls and not bridges “is not a Christian”. And since then he has been consistently critical of rising nationalism and racism in the U.S.

what are you talking about? He’s been critical of Trump since his first term in office, including during the 2024 election cycle, and continues to speak out against him today.

As a gay catholic that grew up in a fundamentalist household in the American Deep South, I am more than well aware of Christianity’s sins against its founder. And yet here I am defending it, because I don’t believe in throwing the baby out with the bathwater

the Catholic Church is the single largest charitable organization on the planet earth, but go off about how evil and immoral (not inmoral) it is. If it disappeared tomorrow, we’d be significantly worse off, from the first world right down to the third. There are bad actors, as with anything.

Pope Francis is not a hateful individual. He has made significant in-roads on behalf of gay & lesbian Catholics, he’s cracked down on the abuse crisis far more than his predecessor, and has called time and again for peace, compassion for the poor and migrants, and regularly speaks out against MAGA

No it isn’t. Also I’m not so much talking about the die hard Trumpers, I’m talking about the moderates and independents that voted for him. And while it isn’t tough love, they’ve been trained to think that hate isn’t really hate. And no, I can’t empathize with them either. They’re jackasses.
