Keeping it light.

Roots music performance and sessions are my happy places!
New tech for the studio. The tablet for remote adjustments.

Quite a gale here today. Some minor damage to the house. Oh well. Will carry on!

"All politics is local"

Been subbed to the @thebaltimorebanner.com for MD legislative news and misc state news. Ain't going back to the "other" paper.

Contemplating next week's jam schedule. There are choices to be made.

Slowly contemplating a "solo" b'grass project. Recorded a couple of instrumental "concepts" so far. Vocals will be the challenge.

It's a process.

A rare occurrence as we missed the worst of last night's storm. Onward we go. Dealing with the rest of life and current events.

There is music though!
February 12, 2025 at 6:53 PM
Awaiting several winter "events" over the next few days <meh>. Hosted a dobro "show & tell" yesterday. Demo'd techniques and a few pockets on the neck.

It's all on the player now.
The door is always open for a return engagement.

Under the weather since Friday. Lacking motivation to play or create.

A crate of facial tissues is a constant companion and they are impossible to grab when wearing finger picks. Also, increased risk of injury.

WOW!!!!

"For the month of January, Waiting for Lester Records artist Matthew Geiger - Musician's release finished at number 2 on the Airplay Direct bluegrass charts..........and big thanks to Howard Parker, Eric Knowles, and Michelle Hannan for their contributions."

Will live to play another day.

Fortunate to do a fair amount of studio sessions for regional artists. I really enjoy the breadth of music that I contribute.

This will be my future once I "age out" of live performance (not that should happen soon).

Any other musicians out there doing similar? Genres?

The good news is that temps have moderated significantly after a bunch of single digit days.

It's good to be out and about. Gigs and local music jams.

I am partial to bluegrass, honky tonk and Americana.

You probably knew that.

One of those studio days. At various times:

Failed to arm tracks
Failed to mute tracks
Failed to mute monitors
Click track too loud
Click track too soft

Brain cells impeded

It all came out in the wash eventually

Just an FYI/FWIW.
Open to some sub/fill-in/project work for a while (not joining another band).
Particularly on dobro.
Reach out with any questions. What's the worst thing that can happen?

A terrific gig and a great time: Shannon Leigh and the Good Bygones (quartet config). Bluegrass/Americana/Country!!

Shannon Leigh (guit/vocals)
Seth Mitchell (bass/vocals)
Michael Stone (guit/vocals)
Moi (reso/vocals)

She's got chops!!

"Shannon Leigh Reynolds and the Good Bygones" last night.

Gawd, the legendary Tom Gray in the crowd.

A great gig!

I will NOT follow you if:

No obvious name
No mutual interests
Your posts are (imho) B.S.
Your posts don't interest me

Followers are "fine" but, I don't live to pursue them. If you follow me and I'm just uncomfortable I will block you.

It's a social media thing.

Road trip to Baltimore tomorrow for a dobro gig. Back in my back yard Sunday for a honky tonk, pedal steel gig.

Mostly studio stuff in February. I'm OK with that.

I'm just a regional grunt trying to make as much music as I can, while I can.
January 25, 2025 at 2:59 AM
FB is throwing everything but the kitchen sink at my wall/timeline.

I ain't buying.
January 24, 2025 at 11:45 PM
Sayonara, Polar Vortex and welcome back "normal" winter.

All good on this end.

Music tonite. Studio and gigs in my near term future.
January 23, 2025 at 7:15 PM
Chillin' (literally and figuratively) . A bit of time on my FB music page.

Staying away from the news for a few days and prepping for weekend gigs.

Plan to attend the Thurs jam. Staying in and warm tonite.

Music gives me great joy. Others seem to have enjoyed this project.

Perhaps you will also.
