We need one group of judices to keep meeting in a surviving civitas somewhere in the 5th century for this to be true. With what gildas let's on, it's probably true for a bit, at least?

that was hard to watch, but a GBA game??? wow!

go on then, what would be the primary criticism if you had to select one.

I know this sounds like looking for something that isn't there. However, I imagine the light bigotry growing up and how easy it is fully fitting in stops one proclaiming french identity. Its probably more pronounced if your parents are german.

I see, its a fair point tbh...

by everyone and anyone. I don't think anyone holds up the telegraph anymore as a credible source, this means a lot. The BBC, and ofcom, has utterly failed in the last decade, Brexit, johnson, climate change and now with reform looming I'de rather they don't push the overton window further right.
November 12, 2025 at 2:54 AM
But what will fill that void can be better dismissed. It's easier to paint something new as biased than the BBC, which, as he says, moved the Overton window so far to the right it was "quite a charge" to consider Johnson a liar.

interested to speculate why your post was hidden for me. What do you think it is?

I lived in Singapore for nearly a decade. If you were among the working population there, you might have known that many just eat all the time in hawker centres this is common enough that some flats don't even include a kitchen.
November 7, 2025 at 6:39 AM
The "Republic" is closer to a directorship with entirely different society and culture. Especially towards home ownership. I can't believe you want to justify leashold by looking to Singapore, as you know, many don't even have kitchens in their own homes. I hope you rethink leashold.

Even after the scarless remains of the birka woman? I forgot he associated the warrior ethos with Beowulf. I agree that feels like a stretch even to my ears.
November 7, 2025 at 6:24 AM
who knows where you're talking about there. However, for the U.K, we can look beyond England-centric politics and recognise Scotland got rid of leasehold. So I'm confused why we push for a "leashold bad, let's create more legislation around it rather than get rid of it... like scotland" narrative.
November 7, 2025 at 6:19 AM
I thought its use of Beowulf was quite good, the arm rings and the gold "currency" and connecting the archaeology of scandinavia with hints from the text. Would be interesting to know what you didn't like about the use of Beowulf specifically.
November 7, 2025 at 6:12 AM
I can't agree that not actually owning your home but only leasing it is anywhere an acceptable structure in place of ownership. What stops the legislation you propose from being reversed? The freeholders actually own the land. We can easily revert to a place where owners can do what they want.
November 7, 2025 at 6:09 AM
this is a terrible take. I guess there is nothing inherently wrong with feudalism either? You don't actually own your home with Leashold as a structure, you can find ways of common upkeep while actually owning your home!
November 7, 2025 at 4:06 AM
Would be really interesting to hear what you have to say about northern routes to kingship. It was a cracking read, but a bit bold in some places, perhaps, but i can't judge it well.

wow...

I think the best explanation I've read from skmeone on here is that they are trying to build trust for the inevitable unpopular policies they will need to implement. If so, it's good for the nation, but it's probably very bad for Labour, especially if there are no tangiable benefits.
October 30, 2025 at 7:40 AM
As if it was written for the Labour party. Its too tempting to believe it is written for them.
October 30, 2025 at 7:38 AM
well, yeah, they left the door right open for the worst interpretations. I really don't understand why they did this. What a catastrophe.
October 25, 2025 at 12:24 PM
As much as I agree, sadly, the equivalent of a successful falklands war can save him. But there is no policy on earth that can turn this around now. Chips now are all in on the reform-lite direction it seems...
October 25, 2025 at 12:21 PM
So many of my political answers for this bizzare Labour government at the moment are: 'a small number of people did a few focus groups, came to some 'difficult' conclusions and this has taken a life of its own'. It must be true. Someday somebody will tell us what madness this was in some bland book.
