it also won't crack plastic because it's just thinned with water, but that does mean you need to seal it with topcoat

yesterday I tried panel lining using ak weathering pencils. they're water soluble so u can grind the pencil wet into a paint tray and then apply it with a thin brush, then clean up with a wet cotton swab. more tedious but more forgiving

fwiw my first kit was MG Buster Gundam and I had a good time. if you mess up there's always the opportunity to learn how to fix it or fix it later when you've gotten more experience

a lot of glass files will buff it way too shiny, and they're only good for flat surfaces. usually sanding up to 2000 or 3000 grit with a soft sanding stick will get it to match the factory finish

I picked up the red/gold version of this one but I think if i ever get around to building it I'm gonna do a palette swap

I purposefully allowed myself to make lots of tiny masking mistakes since this kit was going to be annoying no matter what, and I got a ton of practice fixing those mistakes.

more likely in the future to fix little mistakes on airbrushed kits now that I'm not afraid to go back and adjust

this kit all came on one runner. each limb is a clamshell of two parts, so every color that needs to be painted also needs to be masked. most colors were done with an airbrush but I did the red and some of the metallics by hand this time.
