Oh, it's everybody!

Yup, that's the one!

The city isn't part of this district, though.

Amish a negligible factor because most of them likely didn't vote in this one ... just an educated guess; would love to see any exit polling. But there are enough rural red areas in the 36th to to make this an earthquake (the Donegals, New Holland, Earl/West Earl, Ephrata).

Malone got killed in the rural areas (skimming through the precinct results) -- not surprising. But he rolled up big wins in the suburban areas, and I was shocked at his wins in a borough dominated by one of those school boards and a Christian nationalist church. Just ... wow.

Seriously, rejoice! I never would have imagined a Democrat could flip this seat, ever! This is a shot across Trump's bow!

Ryan used to be a normal Republican, back when that was a thing.

Lancaster County has a Republican voter registration plurality. It was a huge majority for decades and decades before that. Almost impossible to break that generation-to-generation pattern (in that part of the world). This flip is a political earthquake.

Hate to say it, but Lancaster County Amish will not vote for Democrats. If they're unhappy with the Republican, those who do vote (and many of them don't believe it's acceptable to vote in the first place), they just won't vote. Which is good enough.

Seriously never imagined a Democrat could flip that seat. That *should* be a message to Republicans about grassroots anger ... and a message to Democratic leadership about leading, not rolling over!

It's amazing! Congrats on the hard work.
March 26, 2025 at 4:45 AM
Now that's comedy gold.

More people with backyard chickens=more disease vectors. Because those folks don't have biosecurity measures. And yes, wild birds. In my area, 50 wild crows were found dead recently of H5N1.

This is true. It's hard to get over anger ... ask me how I know ... and I can't say I'm really over it. But the people who voted for Trump b/c they thought the price of eggs would drop are the ones who can be convinced. Hard-core MAGA never will.

Yes it does.

I can guess.
