I’m not sure if this counts as a publishing question, but I struggle with the grammar of backstory inside the present moment. I always feel like I have too many past perfect “had”s. He had, she had, etc. I’d love some advice on smoother transitions between past and past perfect.

Do you have to be a biologist? I have a masters in ethnobotany, and I’m longtime gardener and herbal enthusiast. Does that count?

That’s so interesting. I should be careful around my hellebore then I’m guessing. What if anything do you know about tannins from acorns (i.e. during processing for flour)?
