Any other health IT peeps just sitting here today rolling their eyes feeling like they're reliving the same decades over and over again?

For the folks who thought health IT was bipartisan. ASTP/ONC budget getting cut to $9M down from about $62M. The money hasn't been bipartisan for a while. There are also massive cuts to CDC and NIH.

Scoop: Leaked PDF outlines major HHS restructuring proposal (authenticity now confirmed). "The safety nets are being blown up right and left."
Floated cuts include some programs mandated by Congress.

If you've not been watching @booker.senate.gov today as he holds the senate floor, you should. I'm a former R, a former Trump appointee, and I still hold actual conservative policy positions (not MAGA positions which are absolutely not that). He is laying out the constitutional crisis we are in.

Well as a health IT policy wonk this is disappointing. So basically HHS will just be able to publish final rules whenever they want and throw it under the exception clause. I'm not surprised because I expected it, but disappointed.

Riddle me this. If there was a deep state that DOGE was rooting out, wouldn't they have started by firing the federal employees who had been there the longest and most likely to be part of such a conspiracy rather then the brand new folks? The math isn't mathing.

They have just opened up the DOGE handles on X for DMs where they're requesting the general public to report FWA. So I think some creative folks should get to flooding those handles with Waste and Abuse created by the Trump admin. You know things like racing your limo around the Daytona track.

So that lawsuit on data access that DOGE thinks it won, seems to be because the judge has declared that they are an agency, which means they would have to follow APA, FOIA, and other laws. So should we start making the FOIA requests now? And who do we think will be the first to sue over APA?

Roses are red
Policy wonks are blue
Seems like nothing will be done in HIT this year
Do you think that's true?

I actually agree with this & would encourage the fine career folks at ASTP/ONC who I have worked w/ as a contractor & as the Deputy to stay & keep working hard. The work you do is incredibly important for patients. But if you do leave, ping me & I'll be happy to recommend you for any job.
If it were legal to fire you, they wouldn't put so much effort into getting you to resign voluntarily.

Has anyone considered that with Musk's influence within the Admin agencies may be barred from creating Bluesky accounts and be stuck on X? Just a random thought for the day.

For the regulatory nerds like myself: ASTP/ONC dropped HTI-2 this morning, a significantly pared down version. However, there is suddenly another final rule at OMB for review called Health Data, Technology, and Interoperability: Protecting Care Access.

@bsky.app I came here from X b/c you promised an environment that wouldn't allow for hate/trolls. Yet today a man has died & his family is left without him, & your site is filled w/ people talking about how much he deserved it & making jokes about coming for other CEOs. Where's your moderation?

Does anyone else read privacy regulations that states are putting out and just want to delete every app from their phone?

ONC/ASTP HTI-2 Final rule went to OMB on Friday. Could a bunch of orgs request OMB EO meetings so this doesn't come out at Christmas and then have to go through the whole rigamarole we did with the CMS Interop rule that dropped during lame duck?

I can't believe my first post here is going to be that Trump has appointed Dr Oz as CMS administrator. Just completely speechless.
