i played it without any knowledge of chrono trigger as a kid, and there are definitely things that would've made more sense in the plot if i had... but it still made an impression. there are tons of recruitable NPCs with weird tics in their dialogue

whoops, he's a mute in that he's just a silent protagonist. but NPCs will always remark on what he's doing, so you get a feel for him in a way that's similar to games like smt3 and legend of zelda maybe

the main character is a mute and the plot starts with him looking for shells for his girlfriend, but idk if i want to spoil anything outside of that. the game is pretty easy when you understand the mechanics, but there is no actual leveling. just stat gains

it's also like, $7 right now. i'm thinking of replaying it now too. not sure how to describe it...
