One thing that I think would help a lot of TF writing is giving the cause of the TF itself some character. It does not have to be a PERSON... but it should have some logic or motivation.
The motivation can even be a mystery, but there should be some hint that there is one at least.

I think the thing that makes it hard to read and enjoy a lot of feral TF smut is the absolute obsession with anatomy at the cost of any sort of character dynamics, or even the crafting of an interesting predicament.
