Because the most frightening elements are the mundane--isolation, boredom, precarity, a kind of misty social veil that hides us from ourselves and each other, and of course, the astoundingly creepy fact that BR Yeager seems to have grown up in the exact same run-down town I did (and you did!)

Youthful without being juvenile, existential in all the ways that hurt, my pitch for this is that even without any supernatural elements whatsoever, this would still be incredibly good horror.
