one thing I also find comforting is that you have a repeatable process of DIY knowledge production by the virtue of doing those other things and for a long time I never recognised that this was also a skill in itself and not something everyone else is always able to do as well

I figured that might be why you're feeling this more than others, the fact you've bonded over this already hopefully reinforces why you're needing to give this a bit more space. This feeling is a real shared pain that any person would feel given your experiences overseas compared to a lot of others

yeah I mean more in anyone who might have returned after overseas, what would their overseas experience have been? Would they have connected with a few Newtown north shore slumming it YTs or mostly work colleagues and/or within the diaspora?

Isn't this the definition of hipster as accepted from the mid 2000's? It was so much more harmless when it was just about music and/or the activities people did and the politics was weirdly just an extension out of those things so no one paid attention to anything they said.

I’d take so much pleasure dressing like garbage when work was paying for business class. Other passengers would be even try to stop me when I’d get priority boarding just because I looked like I didn’t belong. Total cop mentality
