The last 4 pages of my 8 page Zine DOUBBLE XXPosure. The Zine is 8 pages of happy accidents in my medium format film adventure. If you would like to purchase an actual copy of this, I'm going to be printing up a new batch soon. #zine #hendersongdi #photography

I have a bit of an obsession with Pentax cameras. The first 35mm SLR camera I ever used was a Pentax Spotmatic that my uncle Hink lent to me when I was graphic design student at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in 1975. I eventually bought a used Spotmatic SPII (2nd row from the right, above the ES).

I had been working on this illustration back in January and February as part of my Abandoned & Lost Buildings project, got sidetracked with more pressing projects and never finished it, but I had time today to do some detail work on it. Still have a few things to do, but it's almost finished

My obsession with locomotives began with this locomotive, PRR No. 60. In 1976, I was a graphic Design student at AIP and had to take a B&W photography class. I didn’t even have a camera. My uncle Hink, lent me an old Spotmatic, and I was off and running. Kodak Tri-X.

I’m always drawn to solitary things, a lone tree on a hill, an old tractor in a field, a solitary figure on a beach and random bits of furniture that are out of place. I saw this lone chair through the hedges in my neighbor’s yard.

The nickname "Hink", it was my grandfather's nickname from WWI when he served in the 80th Infantry Division, (The Blue Ridge Division). There was popular song from WWI, "Mademoiselle from Armentières" or "Hinky Dinky Parlez-vous". My grandfather passed the nickname to my uncle.

Here is another hybrid digital to film photo. I find it easier to use my Pentax Spotmatic. It's not perfect, just a little easier to set up the shot. The original photo was taken with a Fujifilm X-T1 and a vintage ƒ-1.4/50mm Takumar prime lens. This was expired Kodak Plus-X, developed in Kodak D76.
