The aircraft which does match is the Sopwith Camel - but the Broadsword Radio problem is that the Camel was only introduced in June 1917.

Maybe the Bristol F.2 which was just in service? Again it has parallel wings (it's also a two-seater which gives it a completely different profile). Other types in service were the Sopwith Triplane - these are not triplanes - and the older DH.2 and F.E.8 which were pushers - these are tractors.

Looking at the Allied types in wide service in early 1917 - the Nieuport 17, Sopwith Pup, and SPAD S.VII - none of them match - the Nieuport has a shorter lower wing, the Pup and SPAD have parallel wings.

Identifying the Allied fighters is more difficult because they never come that close. The best view is at about 20 minutes in when they fly over for the first time

The aircraft which was known by the British as the "V-strutter", which also had an exposed, inline engine was the Albatross D.III

The Fokker D.VII (an aircraft so advanced it was explicitly banned in the Treaty of Versailles) did have an inline engine, but it was introduced in 1918, and it had an engine cowling and "N" shaped struts

The Fokker D.III biplane was withdrawn in December 1916 - the D.IV didn't come into service due to structural problems - the D.V had poor performance and was used mainly by training schools - and the D.VI only came into service in 1918. All of these variants had rotary engines - eg here is a D.III

Here are 3 screenshots - the German plane just before crashing, and two after. You can see in the first shot that the wing struts are "V" shaped, and from the shots on the ground (through the fire) that the engine is in-line and doesn't have a cowling over it. It is a tractor-propellor biplane.
