Bee finds it both amusing and endearing. He doesn’t complain when they accidentally pull too hard. He feels almost giddy at how they earnestly try, it is warm and new to be introduced to rough hands trying to be as gentle as they can be.

The hands of a miner are no joke—

around so easily, even twirling and doing little flips.

At one point, Bee takes the opportunity to ask them to braid his hair, in order to climb to chute more easily. Cue the long silent moment of struggling, as the two miners attempt to wrangle such long, thick and, surprisingly, soft(?) curls—

but he’s grown used to it.

Meanwhile, Orion and Dee can only stare at the giant bush that drapes down Bee’s frame. As miners, they do not have access to hairdressers, but they are a community, meaning they cut each other’s hair when needed. So, it is really fascinating to watch the way Bee moves—

a couple of ends of curls were burnt off from being too close to the furnace.

And with no scissors and only partially sharp scraps, Bee would spend hours, essentially, sawing the burnt ends. Having such long hair is inconvenient, especially with the ‘job’ he was given, and his energetic nature—

to ‘tame’ the nest on his head.

It was still a mess, but definitely not as bad as you’d expect, all things considered. Bee also uses whatever scraps he obtains to use to tie his hair. It’s difficult to wrap the cloth with no assistance, but Bee learns. When his hair first started growing out—

Yet despite being surrounded by garbage most of his life, Bee tries to take care of it. With no interaction, and garbage to watch, he had a lot of free time to spend and if it wasn’t on scavenging, fixing or getting lost in thought, then he’d use whatever fragments of a broken brush he could find—
