Oh wait is that the “weak men create hard times, strong men create good times” concept? History is a circle, etc?

😳 no never heard of them

As a materialist, I’m certain that we are all products of our environments. Prejudice and bigotry must be combatted but I don’t think it will be completely eradicated until the masses are freed from exploitation. Socialism has proven to be a great vehicle of social progress. Go figure haha

They focus on both agriculture and martial development because both are essential to their continued existence,

If you don’t see how communism is against idealism then I know you haven’t read much of the appropriate literature. Are you familiar with dialectical materialism? Communism is intimately linked to Marxism-Leninism and scientific socialism

I’m not a bot. If that is in fact what you want to believe, what’s that mean about you and your principles?
December 11, 2024 at 7:50 PM
No I’m a white dude living in Michigan, US. I served in the military. I got two kids, a dog and a cat. I’ve read some political theory and history, and try to follow current events

No, no no no. Ive heard this argument too many times. Food imports are a major way colonial powers leverage developing nations. DPRK does not want to buy food, they want to trade for technology to advance their own production. The sanctions restrict scientific cooperation & trade in very broad ways.
December 11, 2024 at 7:41 PM
Still kinda irrelevant. What are you comparing these numbers to? The US? The USSR? Some imaginary place which holds all wealth equally among all citizens? In reality PRC is emerging from a century of extreme conflict, colonization, & famines, but also single greatest leap in development in history
December 11, 2024 at 7:19 PM
This sounds dogmatic and idealist to me. What good is a communist state if it buckles under the pressure of global markets? We all live in the context lol 🥥 Basic working class interests are fairly concrete. They can be advocated for by bureaucrats while the US is still terrorizing the globe.
December 11, 2024 at 7:10 PM
I mean, I hear this argument virtually everywhere. Other communists sometimes argue PRC is revisionist, and I see the limited validity in those claims, but I would still say they are revisionist communists. To stray from orthodoxy doesn’t make one capitalist, or fascist, or feudalist, or w/e.

Their economic struggles are majorly attributable to US-NATO sanctions and the ongoing war against US and SK. Despite their struggle they still provide housing and health coverage to their people. Idk your nation but I’d bet money it is guilty of imperialism. Your welfare state is a bourgeois bribe.

I don’t go out of my way to keep up with it day to day but I pay attention. It all seems grim for sure

Communism has several discrete meanings.

History is rich with communist success. For a single example, the USSR provided the greatest increase in quality of life for humanity in its time. Was it failure because it didn’t last forever? Certainly not.

People do in fact kill people. That is true. Seems obvious to me that liberals and fascists killing to maximize the profits of private enterprise are truly evil, and that capitalism is unsustainable. Socialism is our only hope to survive! Communism is our greatest aspiration!
December 11, 2024 at 6:24 PM
Well that’s rather pessimistic. I don’t see what the point is trying if you believe that.
December 11, 2024 at 6:20 PM
It’s both. There is the mode of production which is the goal, and there is the path to it. It’s simple language. Noun vs adjective, if you will. Anticommunist talking points have muddied this issue. To elaborate, communists decide what communism is yea? Liberals do not decide this.
December 11, 2024 at 6:20 PM
No I don’t believe that. But I’m not a utopian. The communist struggle will by necessarily take generations. Centuries, perhaps millennia.
December 11, 2024 at 6:12 PM
Ah I’m new, didn’t recognize that was a link. Genuinely thank you. That’s a pretty weak argument though. The PRC has centralized control over most of its economy, the bourgeoisie do not hold primacy over its politburo, and of the wealth individuals hold, the party still has control within the orgs
December 11, 2024 at 6:10 PM
What would you call a nation lead by a communist party, if not communist? What do you call a political movement striving for communism?
December 11, 2024 at 6:06 PM
Considering where N Korea is coming from, I’d say they’re kicking ass. Fairly robust social safety net and they are a legit pain in the ass to the global hegemonic terror network which committed genocide against their people and destroyed all their major cities.
