So happy to see this Hoya finally flower. The plant already had penduncles when I got it, but this is the first time it has flowered in my care. So excited to see more from this Filipino native.

Hoya davidcumingii

*name makes me feel weird though*

That was my experience with my echinopsis too! I left for mexico while it was in bud form, then came back a week later to a crispy, papery flower. I was devastated that I fully missed it. Thankfully it did flower once already last spring. Can’t wait to see it bloom again next year!

Great plan! I’d love to get an update in the spring when it has grown back in.
I did the same to my plant (P. ‘Santa Leopoldina’) this summer and now it has gotten huge 😳 I gave away the cuttings in my local FB plant share group 💚

The blanket of snow that fell this weekend is a welcome sight but it’s making me miss outdoor gardening so much.
Had to spend my morning coffee looking through this summer’s garden and reminisce.

I’ve heard people having success with water propagation yes! I personally like to stick my propagations straight into soil, kept in a sealed container, under a bright light or on a windowsill, in a warm room.
This little guy was grown from a leaf cutting a year ago!

So much appreciation today for these holiday cacti for brightening up a gloomy, drizzly morning. 💚

Does anyone here have an heirloom holiday cactus that’s blooming? I love seeing mature bushes of these in full bloom! 🌸

Schlumbergera truncata

Mine has not yet felt a lick of sunlight but it is 12 inches away from the lights and it always has a faint pink edge on the top 2 leaves. I’ll definitely get them closer to a window come springtime though!

Funny enough this has been my easiest anthurium 😅 I got it at the same time as my forgetii (now a leafless stump) and my vittarifolium (grows a leaf every 3mos🫠). I agree though, it truly is a wonderful plant—each new leaf is a month long process of growing and hardening off.

Watching the A. luxurians do this is one of my favourite transitions to watch. It goes from a tiny smooth orange/brown leaf to a huge beautiful bullate shiny leaf.

Theres no running from it. Embrace the obsession and be one with the leaf 🙂‍↕️🤭

Geeked out so much seeing this Anthurium andraeanum fruiting. I wonder if the botanical garden growing it will attempt to germinate the seeds when ripened.
