The republicans are not dependent on the public employee unions. California is one party state because the democrats have bought the loyalty of the public employees union using a lot of the tax-payers money.

"Better education" means firing teachers who can't teach and closing schools that can't educate. Such actions will cause huge fights with the teachers' unions. No sane progressive will ever do that.

Before ACA more people had insurance they could afford and they were happy with. ACA can give you all you want because the government *pays* for this bad program to be semi-competitive.

Humans adopt to their environment. In an environment where you have a "right" to get whatever you need people become leaches. In an environment without enabling people become free and productive. Malcolm X got that point right and talked against the "dole".

The Saudis had kicked the Hashemites from Arabia. But an Hashemite prince still wanted to be a king. So the Evil British Empire took 80% of the Jewish homeland and gave it to that prince. Good luck finding any progressive who has ever complained about that.
