Southern Illinois is full of the best state parks Illinois has to offer. Ferne Clyffe State Park in Goreville is one of them. Happy Hollow Trail is a great 5-mile hike with a lot to see like this awesome natural arch!

Enjoyed some fall colors at Crow Knob in the Shawnee National Forest this fall. Crow Knob was a part of the Underground Railroad. It was used to signal runaway slaves. The nearby Sand Cave was used for resupply for the runaway slaves heading towards the north for a better and free life.

Haven't felt that well today. Severe stomach cramps. Not sure why but after a good sleep, I feel better now. No hiking today, but I'll share this pic from the summer! :)

Jackson Hole is my favorite spot to visit during snow and ice. I know not ideal if you're on a horse or mule, but on foot? It's more than magical!

I didn't kayak as much as I wanted to this summer. I'm going to try to do it this fall and winter, too! I've been good about not falling in. LOL. We have great waters to kayak here in the Shawnee National Forest :)

Yesterday, my wife and I joined the US Forest Service and Jeep'N Shawnee to help clean up trash along Eagle Mountain Road that runs through the Shawnee National Forest. We removed over 1,400 pounds of trash including alcohol bottles, tires, TVs, and a lot of energy drink cans. #LeaveNoTrace

This is what I love to see the most while hiking in a forest. It's bluffs but I started calling it bluffage years ago and it stuck. :) Trillium Trail at Giant City State Park in Makanda, Illinois. #hiking #outdoorphotography #nature
