Einkorn loaf #2. This is a much nicer loaf. It helps to completely read the instructions and cover the loaf during most of the baking.

We rented a cabin at a State Park. Saturday I had 2 hikes planned. The first hike was mostly boardwalk-slick with algae. We bailed and went to Port Townsend. Next day we hiked part of Kennedy Creek trail. It was darn cold. 5 miles, 800 feet elevation. It was clear enough to the Olympic mountains.

This week’s hike was Moulton Falls and Mount Bell Loop. 6.25 miles 995 ft elevation, tons of rain. The trail was wide enough that I could use my hiking umbrella and stayed mostly dry. Steven’s rain gear kept him mostly dry too. Yesterday was a spa day with The Coconut.

Greenleaf falls trail to Table Mountain. We didn’t plan to go to the top. Steven picked the hike. I reminded him the hike is a lot of work! He said we could turn around at any time. We also knew the weather would be variable The trail was rocky and undulating. 9.25 miles 1350 ft elevation.

Last weekend’s hike was traipsing around at GORP Camp. This year GORP camp was at camp Robbinswold on the Olympic peninsula. The setting was amazing and camp was more fun than last year. Melanie went with me this year. She has an awesome camera and a great eye for photography.

On the way down
Skyline we took deadhorse creek trail. There were better views and ptarmigan. We stayed at National Park Inn overnight. Sunday AM we we wanted to hike Narada falls trail, but the road was closed due to snow. We did the trail of shadows twice. 1.4 miles and 39 ft elevation.

This week’s hike was Skyline trail, Mt. Rainier. We did not expect a view, it was cloudy/raining/snowing. I should not have been surprised at the unprepared people on the trail, but I was. Fully half of the people had no traction devices, no map, no emergency anything. 4.79 miles. 1388 ft elevation.

This week’s hike was Moulton Falls and part of mount bell. We did this as an out and back from a different parking lot. We bypassed the 2.5 mile hike along the river. 6 miles 987 ft elevation. There are list of trails in the park. We have decided we will explore a lot of them.

This weeks bonus hike was at Chehalem Ridge Nature Park. It was church and hike day. This was the first time I could make it to a church and hike day this year. It was a short hike, and progressed at kid speed. I enjoyed catching up with friends.

This week’s hike was Moulton Falls and Mount Bell loop. 7.63 miles and 1014 ft elevation. Most of this was fun. The last 2 miles completely stunk. It might be that I rock climbed yesterday, that’s the most I’ve hiked in 8 weeks, or I got a flu shot yesterday. It’s probably all of the above. No pics

This weeks hike was Tarbell to Silver Shadow again. I also helped finish moving The Coconut into their off campus apartment for their super senior year. The apartment is on the third floor, no elevator.

Last week there was no hike. Dad was here and doesn’t hike anymore. This week’s much needed hike was Silver Shadow via Tarbell. We started later to avoid the worst of the rain. We then cranked out the hike in 3 hours including a lunch/snack break.

2 weeks ago I went white water rafting on the Lower Salmon and Snake rivers for 5 days. I even kayaked a few class 2 rapids. 5 stars, highly recommend.

No hike this week. It was 85 by 10 am - yuck! I leave tomorrow for a week of white water rafting!!! I don’t care that it will be 95 all week, I can just get wet to cool down 🙂 I will post pictures a few weeks after I return.

Today’s hike was Lakes Trail, Mt St Helen’s National Volcanic Monument. I like both the hike and the drive. The trail follows the south side of Coldwater Lake, with gentle elevation gains and losses the whole way. Emilio came with us. 8 miles, 776 feet of elevation.

This week’s hike was a backpacking trip. The Bad Ass Friends Having Fun hiked the PCT section H, most of section H anyhow. We hiked south bound for 50.8 miles, 7 days, 6 nights, and a crud ton of elevation changes. The oldest member of the group now has the trail name of “Mountain Goat,” nope not me

This week’s hike was Tarbell to Hidden Falls. Most excellent. 11.4 miles and about 1500 ft elevation.

This week’s bonus hike was Tarbell and Silver Shadow. There were a LOT of vegetation and flowers. There were some mosquitoes, but nothing like Friday (we counted over a hundred bites through 2 layers of clothing). The views were great, as always. For some reason, the last mile was difficult.

I have been super active with family visiting, including a short backpacking weekend!

This week’s hike was moving the Coconut home from Uni and then a real
Hike today at Round Lake with Colin and Nathalie. No pictures, sorry.

This week’s hike was Cape Horn. Not the loop, gotta let those peregrine falcons have their privacy. The wild flowers and views were awesome! About 8 miles and 1585 feet elevation.

No hike this week. Integrative cardiology conference instead!
May 30, 2025 at 10:55 PM
This week’s bonus hike was Tarbell to Silver Shadow-again. 🙂 We just needed to get out again. And both the drive and the hike are beautiful. We were able to enjoy the wildflowers and wildlife.

This week’s hike was part of Lewis River Trail via Curly Creek Trail. This was a short, well maintained trail. It followed the river with minimal elevation and had several established dispersed campsites with room for tents. This is good for a first time backpacking trip. No pics-time crunch.
