Trying as hard as I can to leave the planet better than I found it. Teaching people easy things they can do to preserve the wild for the next generations. Please help save our natural spaces, our National Monuments and our National Parks.

I’m also wearing a white Hazmat suit. Here is a message from history that I’ve written on the back. Looking for other positive ideas to write. The Hazmat suit is a blank canvas. Suggestions are welcome. Thank you.

Spent the afternoon in “war torn” Portland today. Peaceful stroll through the Japanese and the Rose Gardens. Workers trimming trees, people walking, kids out and street musicians playing. Met a young couple visiting from Reno, staying downtown. They said they felt safe and really like it here.

When the world seems dark, we can each be a light.
In the midst of the government shutdown we can all help by acknowledging each other, pitching in in the area of our passions and leaving a positive imprint wherever we are, wherever we go and with whomever we meet.

Take a breather. Get outside as often and for as long as you can. Stay grounded. We’re in a marathon and not a sprint

Backyard habitat. An old blueberry farmer once told us he plants enough berries for the people and the birds.
This year the rabbits and the squirrels enjoyed more strawberries than we did. We’re okay with that.
Always plant enough to share. Don’t keep it all for yourselves. Oligarchs, listen up.

Hope is the seedling that grows up from the ruins. Life emerges from what appears a barren landscape. Our political landscape feels like this. Plant seeds of hope now. Fertilize the ground so we can regrow our democracy even stronger. Volunteer. Do something. Be a light. The world needs you.

Long day hike yesterday in Oregon’s Central Cascade Wilderness. When we feel weak in the fight we need to take time away, to refocus, to strengthen our resolve. We must never, under any circumstances let our nature be destroyed by a money mongering administration. Never give up. Protect our lands.

This large Western Toad worked very hard, dragging itself up a slope to get off of the trail. Deserved a long nap

Public lands on the chopping block. Cuts to the US Forest Service and the National Parks. Our National treasures.
Took time from doomscrolling to spend the day among friends. Rejuvenated for the fight.
Pitching in to educate people to keep our lands pristine and cleaning up after those who don’t.

Fantastic afternoon of community, motivational speakers including our district’s house representative, mayor, commissioner and more, plus fantastic music and an upbeat, but serious crowd in Beaverton, Oregon. Lots of American flags! My poster: No Kings!

Sometimes we must go down before we climb up…..
Or what appears to be downhill to one can be uphill to another.
Wanderings.
