I loved that series. It was so utterly goofy.

Casino Royale (the comic version with David Niven) also provided a solution to the issue years ago: "James Bond" is an alias that's been handed down from 007 to 007, from the original to the current one.

...that is so ridiculously out of proportion to the main building. Distinct shades of Volkshalle going on there.

William Gibson seems to be on track for all the shit bits, but none of the cool bits.

It’s a huge waste of money, ignoring everything else wrong with it. Someone should tip DOGE off.

Does AWS not have geographic and zone redundancy for storage and something like Azure Front Door, like Azure?

I always use UK South on Azure, because it’s where I am.

The number of people who miss the central message in a lot of stories is quite bemusing.

LLMs are tools. Tools are only as good as the person using them. A really expensive saw isn't going to magically turn someone in to a master cabinet maker. You still need to possess the foundational skills to use the tool effectively.

You spend a lot of time with "AI" tweaking the input to get it to actually give you what you want. Depending on what you're doing, it might well have been quicker to just do it all yourself from the start. People expect it to be a panacea...it's really not.

Also made pornographic versions of his films, by interspacing the scenes from the mainstream releases with additional pornographic scenes.

Fond of using the Castel twins too.

“Requiem pour un vampire” is my favourite of his.

Kind of wondering if that was ever regional, because you absolutely can in the UK.

I'm...pretty sure that's the literal opposite of how copyright law works?

(I mean other than governments bending over backwards to make it so it doesn't apply to LLM firms...)

It's more "weary resignation" than "happy".

Yeah. It was Atari 800/400 and then Atari ST and PC for me. Also had a BBC micro in the mix at one point.

My collection nowadays is Atari 400, 800, and 1040 STE, Commodore C64, and A500, and a BBC.

I didn't really play with any console as a kid in the 80s. First time I used one was when a friend had a SNES in the 90s. We were a home computer and PC household, so I was always playing games on those...I mean PC is still my gaming platform.

I suspect he doesn't care, because it's there to make a point.

It was actually his mother who kicked it all off. Point stands though.

The fact that even with zero context everyone knows who this is about says much.

Shout out to that time a librarian asked if they should ban a book that had a story about two daughters getting their father drunk so they could have sex with him and get pregnant. Then after being told obviously yes, pointing out it was the OT story of Lot and his daughters.

Beloved of lawyers as well, for actually having a pretty good portrayal of how you do cross examination correctly.

(LegalEagle on YouTube has done a video on it.)
