If the country elects a government in the future that revises the rules for new applicants, then I disagree but fair enough. But the idea we can change the rules for those who have already successfully obtained indefinite leave to remain is ridiculous.

I wonder how many people now working in the shadow economy only do so because this is how they first entered the UK labour market? Getting people into legitimate, official employment early might help to reduce that problem too?
