50 years ago today, Monday 20th January 1975, I started on the railway at Bristol Temple Meads. Platform duties at first, then Guard before moving to Stratford, east London to go on the footplate. Retired from the big railway in 2015 but still working voluntarily for the GWSR driving and signalling

Had a visit to the SVR on 30/12. Great day out, lovely weather (for December) and diesel powered steam heat. 40106 waiting to depart Highley southbound.
