Old Prairie Dog
@highplainstraveler.bsky.social
Living in the shadow of the Rockies on my little piece of High Plains prairie. Done with formal career pursuits, but talk to me about the history of highways, meteorology, geology and seismology, or prog rock.
I assume there are sane(r) Rs running for gov. Who are they and do they stand a chance against the likely D candidates (e.g. Klobuchar)?

Is that "all over" as in totally done with it, or as in going to cover it in depth?

Small sample size, I know, but it's interesting to me that most of the Did You Feel It responses were from inland communities. I'd think the coastal residents would be attuned to earthquakes, given the amount of preparedness for tsunamis along there.

Are there local and state election officials in place who will do the leader's bidding and refuse to certify results adverse to the regime? Or, who will disqualify votes to bring the desired outcome?

Have his minions been successful in occupying the state and local election official offices that certify elections? Agreed, he can't cancel elections, but it's possible sympathetic officials could try to cancel some election results.

Looking for an event that "justifies" imposition of the Insurrection Act. Suspend habeus corpus, bring in the military anywhere that is showing resistance like Mpls. Ultimately, limit the ability of key states to conduct fall elections.

Cost-benefit analyses are so much easier when you don't try to quantify the benefits.

Whatever you do, don't teach these southern boys that they need to walk like a penguin on (no caps) ice.

Being upset or concerned about something, not realizing it's 1/10 as upset and concerned as I'd have been if that orange menace had won the election.

I need to fill out my November ballot first.

I almost commented BUT WHERE'S THE EAGLE???, but there it is next to Mary. So it's legit.

I'm only a year older than this guy, and so I can guarantee that he doesn't look anything like his 25 year old photo. Do law school grads get to use their Juris Doctor to entitle themselves "Doctor"?

It does affect her district, to be sure. But, he has a real hard on to punish Colorado for voting convincingly against him three times, and I'm just waiting for him to find a way to attack our excellent voting by mail (and, mostly, drop-box) system. Doubt he can get Congress to outlaw it.

Transmission and distribution lines are responsible for many more bird kills than wind turbines. Trump's FWS has drastically loosened regulations on utility companies in terms of holding them responsible for avian electrocutions.

I reckon the 2026 gov race will be interesting, since at least one of the 20+ R candidates is promising to free Peters. I can't wait to see how many stand up for enforcing election laws.

Colo has had a barely functioning R party since it nominated a Tea Party lunatic for governor in 2010 and he drew 11% of the vote. It does dominate in rural areas, but their state committee has been in a civil war for several years over a chair who posted a "God hates flags" msg over rainbow flags.

Like her or not - and I find many of her views abhorrent, and would never ever vote for her - she is an important figure in the national political discussions. I appreciate the nuance this article provided.

A true cross-section of America, if by "America" you mean a small town in rural Iowa.

This is what Trump's going to extort the Pulitzer literature committee for.

The key to Colorado's voting convenience is the proliferation of ballot drop boxes. With two weeks to review and complete our often complex ballots, and a drop box a short drive away, the current requirement that all ballots be received by election day is not an impediment to voting.

DOJ is gonna need tank cars full of black toner to print all those redactions.

Hasn't Denmark PNG'd Landry yet?

It's nice that the Presidency is a mostly ceremonial, part-time position that allows him to spend his days designing both ballrooms AND battleships. Neither of which is particularly relevant in the 21st century, but here we are.

Greenland can award Landry a PNG.
