Yeah that's kinda how we're all feeling about it on the left over here. Burnley came really close, I'm hoping this boring guy will be just boring enough for a Burnley win next time.

And my wife has had a ton of success looking up just who wants to pay dnd or board games in local Reddit, discord, and other social media groups. She's in a campaign with four strangers right now and it sounds like a blast.

It's really tough. For me, connections have easiest by been going to local metal shows and doing activism and volunteering. Shared interests, etc. are great but it's been easier to form connection through shared tasks, and that'll lead to things you can teach each other.

Lol they're still complaining while still not being open for morning rush or most days in general. Meanwhile Yego across the street never had parking and they're doing great.

My mother is an only child and was adopted so as a kid every person was a "Schrodinger's relative" scenario

Envisioning a bunch of dudes with wraparound sunglasses losing their minds when "fight club" comes up lol

I would never shame a lawn being turned over for a native garden. Kudos!

We only put music on Spotify because people used to say "I'd check you out but you're not on the thing." And now it's not on there and I bet I'll never notice.

My band has made $120 total from all streamers since 2017. We've been able to break even on the cost of doing it for fun just from playing shows and selling merch and records. Uploading files and waiting for payment is homework.

Plus, like... Wanting your senator to have decent judgement and the ability to do basic research... I dunno, you go to one biker bar in Maine and you'll see like three guys with that exact tattoo. You'd think Google reverse image search would get a visit before your Senate run.

My main concern is his age and there are a few things he's been silent on I wish he'd speak to, but if the choice is between an actual progressive who is old as dirt or a corporate centrist who might keep the job for 40 years while throwing my friends under the bus whenever the DNC says so...

It's wild that Moulton thinks his only problem was not disavowing AIPAC. Markey could be in his 90s and his policies would still be decades ahead of Moulton. I'm not expecting good takes on immigration from ex-military transphobes. Esp with Healey as gov, it's all blue cover for ICE collaboration.

This explains how Myst happened better than any development diary ever could.

A new generation of leadership...
which is white, straight, transphobic, intimately connected to the military, and middle aged.
Wow. I'm having whiplash from how fresh and new that all sounds.
😐

Man we're all pretty sick of the DNC trying to steamroll the candidates we like, but here you come trying to succeed where baby Kennedy failed last time. Hope you lose bad.

Which is where you run into stuff like this: AWS is so big and shitty that if it goes out, anything from your messaging app to your PlayStation to your homebrew d&d map editor loses Internet. Amazon is such an insidious leech, we're using them without knowing it half the time.
October 20, 2025 at 10:38 AM
For pro web services, that can be super difficult. Not defending anyone's subscriptions, just Amazon has way too much market share and a ton of businesses of all sizes have no alternatives. It's such a behemoth, you could be trying to boycott and accidentally use a service that relies on it...

Agree. I'm rereading Neuromancer by @greatdismal.bsky.social right now and if I wanted something similar in tone I'd be closer with James Ellroy than Isaac Asimov. The only thing Gibson didn't predict in there was the insane racism of the moment so just add Ellroy and it'd be 2025 non-fiction.

We've had a lot of abductions and incidents but it seems like it'll be a blip in local news and then they move on. But it's daily, they're grabbing at home or at a job site. Hell, this isn't even the first MA minor pulled out of school by ICE this Trump term (Milford was in the news a month ago)
