The highest denomination bill I have is the Zimbabwean one hundred trillion dollars. Even this would not buy a slice of bread, but at an izakaya in Tokyo, out of sheer curiosity, I gave this as a gift and the drinking fee was reduced as a favor. Germany's highest denomination stamp,50 billion marks.

A postcard sent by Hiroo Yamagata, a critic and translator, arrives from Senegal.
The stamps on it are sophisticated in design and remind me of the old French-era Senegalese stamps.
Much appreciated.

Few stamps have been issued on the subject of the current Israel-Hamas war. Is this due to political complexity? The “Palestin Merdeka (Palestinian Independence)” stamp issued by Malaysia late last year is a rare example in this sense. #Philately #Stamps

Japan's GDP gap, the difference between potential GDP and actual GDP, is negative by about 4 trillion yen. However, the Bank of Japan has not yet maintained its stance on raising interest rates. A rate hike would have a negative impact on consumption and investment.

At Maison petit renard in Itabashi, Tokyo, I happened to meet Mr. Takanori Uno, translator of the masterpiece series “L'Arabe du futur”. It was a fulfilling moment as I negotiated with the store manager, Thibaud Desbief, to buy a poster for the Mœbius exhibition, which is on view until today!
