also for me, going out of one's way to use the english titles all the time is like a shibboleth for Sanitized "Corpo" types, and I personally don't like that association (just my personal taste)

being multi-lingual, we usually don't translate english titles. so I treat japanese titles the same. in my head titles are like proper nouns. if there are multiple titles I pick whatever rolls off the tongue easier and communicates it to others and many times it's the jp title

And tbh, in Anime, I've seen my enough share of anger over things that are not bad in the first place. Sexualizing anime characters is Good. And with the gov and payment processors censorship, I am becoming less tolerating with people who overreact over this. Don't like it? Cool. Move on

More effort is required, which many don't want to put. They just want a justification for a bad rating and don't want to go out of the consumption comfort zone. Media can be used as a conversation starter but should not be the end goal.

If you are a vegan for example, I don't think you will be pearl clutching every time media depicts eating meat even if you strongly believe it's wrong. And I doubt your main output to every movie would be just pointing that.

Instead of just going "Bad thing so -1 point" we can ask why this thing exists? We stop talking about the media and start talking about the real world. It can be reflective of bad concepts in society. It can be a message the author believes in and we disagree. It can just be sloppy writing

If one holds Good beliefs and actively supports the Cause, but enjoys some media labelled Bad. Does that make them a Bad person? Obviously not! They can have any reason why they enjoy it.

I hate how for some their only moral outlet is media consumption and subsequently their only input on media is on how morally pure or impure it is

Also recalling MahoAko most of the twt types were calling it peak, but probs because there is no male mc for the self insert thing? Still, the scale of their reaction is weird to me and reads like they woke up one day and got indoctrinated to hate

If anything that is a green flag for me. Combined with the requirement of being decent to real people (no racism, transphobia, bigotry...) is what makes one a Good account in my book

assure them it's safe to be horny and they all let lose. and of course in the end people should enjoy and avoid whatever they want and if sex makes someone uncomfortable that is totally valid but this goes both ways. and of course there are things that are bad and gross, but many times it's benign.

and then the more "intellectual" type who take the sex bits and over-scrutinize and interrogate for justification. "the sex is not relevant to the plot so it's bad". (ab)using every literary criticism term only to detect a point from some final rating since "sex bad" is a low hanging fruit.

seems visa and mastercard options currently are only available outside japan, so using them will not work on blocked content. need to use points + vpn for that

Can totally relate to that! Sometimes I read a manga chapter in a breeze. Other times I have to look up every word ;_;

I wish people just turned back to basic decency. Be nice. If someone wants you treat them one way, even if you don't understand why, and it does not inconvenient you or affect you in anyway, then why not? If it is too much bother, then ignore and move along instead of actively hating it
