Hi Adventure

I make #ttrpg comics, art, and animations. Let's talk tabletop games!
I always make it clear to my #dnd players that death isn’t the end of their story. If they show interest in playing a character who has died, I go out of my way to help make it happen!

For villains, I started using “superior” abilities that mimic normal class features with a bit of a bump to their power. Stuff like “Superior Portent” might always result in a 1 or a 20 rather than rolling numbers at the start of the day.

#dnd balance has a lot more to do with how the players “feel” rather than the flat math of the game. Rather than ban features, I look towards equipping low performing players with magic items and balancing the encounters accordingly.

Death has become easier to mitigate over the last couple of #dnd editions. Some people increase the reagent cost, add a dice roll, ban the spells or add a lingering negative effect to resurrection! I prefer having the players go on an epic quest to get the diamonds!

There’s something really appealing about portable rams, sacks of flour and 10 ft poles. Throwing a bag over an enemy’s head is a popular move at our #dnd table. You’d be surprised by how many spells require the caster to see their target!

It’s okay to reuse #dnd plot lines or concepts. Your villain might be similar to previous baddies but your player’s actions will make every adventure unique!

"A-B-B. Always be blasting!" Gotta love #dnd Warlocks and their signature cantrip!

When I make a #dnd new character, I often pick class first and build all of their personality and backstory traits around their abilities. It helps me focus my ideas!

#dnd Monks and Barbarians aren’t the only ones proficient in unarmored combat 😎

Everyone wants to save their #dnd spell slots until the 8d6 comes out 😭

When my #dnd players get to the end of a dungeon, I try to have the villain present them with multiple options. Sometimes the villain will try to divide them with hard to refuse offers. Other times, he simply seeks mercy. Choice is the heart of the game!

#dnd Table talk can be confusing. My players use direct eye contact to show they're ready for in-character NPC talk. Others use flags, raised hands, or buzzers! What's your solution?

I rarely have a #dnd patron outright punish a paladin for failing to uphold their oath. If you are a less devout paladin however, there are extra dangerous quests a patron/god might send you on. That’s where the fun begins!

How do you guys handle oathbreakers?

Do you guys keep things #dnd RAW or do you introduce homebrew from other sources? How do you feel about books like Tasha?

The true villain of every #dungeonsanddragons campaign isn't the lich or the dragon, it's scheduling.

I am always throwing in mysteries and twists with no plans to explain it. I always tell myself that I’ll have it figured out by the end of the campaign…either that or my players will forget. It’s a 50/50 toss up. #dungeonsanddragons

Sometimes the ideas you have at 3 am aren’t the best. It’s nice of my friends to give me the benefit of the doubt.

I still stand by Town Town. #dnd

Made a ring that alters the effect of a spell through the use of puns. Can anyone predict how my players will use it? #dungeonsanddragons

There’s a lot of pressure to roll up a totally unique #dnd character for every adventure and campaign but sometimes it’s nice to lean back into familiarity and play a character you already know very well.

Building a twitch stream overlay that allows me to play #d&d with chat! I'll be beta testing the overlay again today at 6pm PT.

Just added a cosmetics system and the ability to view your miniature collection in 3d! All feedback is welcome!

Sometimes the you don’t get the heroes you want. Sometimes you just get the heroes you need. I am very proud of how quickly my group went from serious medieval fantasy warriors to living memes #dungeonsanddragons

I give my players a lot of magic items and use attunement and hit die costs to limit their abuse. This has given them a big toolbox to take advantage of. They legitimately surprise me when they pull out magic items they found years ago! #d&d

One mistake lots of new DMs make is ignoring their player’s backstories. Talk to your players and pull allies and enemies from their backstory. It’ll vastly increase their interest in the plot. #d&d #webcomic
