#BlueTits is a lovely alternative theme, but whenever it’s appropriate to post #gannets, I will post gannets. Summer of the most beautiful birds imho. #BirdOfTheDay

Stomach bug while on a business trip, not something I can recommend. Made it home (4 hour train journey), now trying the first solid-ish food of the day. Hooray for mushy banana.

A "few" #wigeons and teals on the river yesterday. The wigeons especially were very communicative, fun listening to their whistling.
Then, suddenly, all had disappeared (while I crossed through a small wood, lost sight for maybe 30 seconds). I blame the guy in the last pic 😍🦅 #birds #eagle

In other news: it's snowing! ❄️

Took an sd card from my camera earlier tonight, and now can't for the life of me remember where I put it. Great. There were some good pictures on it from this weekend. It's got to turn up somewhere, right? *sigh*

#HolidayRobin #singing its song - perfect for #BirdOfTheDay, too.

My 91 year old landlady started showing signs of dementia a while ago. recently she and her family (who do live a few km away) decided that she would stay in her flat (in our house) instead of moving into care.
Now it’s gotten worse and she started ringing doorbells in the middle of the night…

Survived the dentist appointment, hooray. Renewed two smaller fillings, but that was it (and the first time she had to drill in a few years)

repost with the right tag: #ShadesOfGray is the #BirdOfTheDay theme today, and it's a great opportunity to show off this cute #dunnock. #Heckenbraunelle

It’s been a few days, how about another #holidayrobin? #birds

There’s something I don’t see every day: a mallard in a tree. (Tbf, she wasn’t that high up, about 1.5 meters)

Dear S-Bahn Hamburg, please:You can try to tell us that trains run irregularly due to police action, but honestly, a train every 10 minutes is just your regular schedule on the line. You’re just trying to hide that you didn’t order extra trains to bring the concert crowd home, aren’t you?

Who starts a mid-week concert after 8:30 p.m?
I’m old, i need to work tomorrow, and I’ve got a standing room ticket, meaning my back will hurt at some point. Come on, Tom Odell, time to get onto the stage 😂

Another one with only 2 entries on my camera roll, a rather new addition, the blue-headed vireo #BirdOfTheDay #least

One of my only two pictures of the free-roaming rose-ringed parakeets in Cologne. #BirdofTheDay #least
Not hard to find, but I've only been to the city once since I started birding.

Ooh, early birthday surprise: got an email that I won a free ticket for the Tom Odell concert tomorrow. Apparently the newspaper that ran a competition got more tickets than originally expected. Taking this with a grain of salt until I get info on where to pick up the ticket, but still 😬

#BirdOfTheDay is about #StandingOnThings except the floor, or the alternative, #gulls. I thought I’d cover both today.

Calling this #Fighting might be pushing it a bit, it was more a neighbourly disagreement about the best spot on the cliff. #BirdOfTheDay #birds

Another one for #BirdOfTheDay , a cormorant fighting with its #lunchtime snack. For a second or two it looked as if the fish might escape. It did not.
