If we trained enough therapists in Ireland we wouldn’t need to recruit from abroad. Therapy courses here: too few places, points too high- we export our bright youth to train abroad, often in the UK and they then staff the NHS. We need to take responsibility for training our own workforce.

Why does Hildegard Naughton think the waiting list problems is to do with paperwork? It’s to do with chronic understaffing- and turning to the private sector as a solution will just draw existing staff away from the public sector.
