I finished 11 books in October. 4 from the library, 1 an ARC from netgalley, 1 from book group, 1 nonfiction, 8 books by women, 3 by men, 2 in translation.

I will not have read all Booker long listed books by the 10th but I have made a fair stab at them.

What watching c4 news last night and Chris Murray said 'a pull' factor was English.

Still slowly chugging through the booker long list. I bounced off this before but it has me hooked this time.

When you live in a two coffee method household, multi tasking is key.

Everything I read and finished in September.

Pretty good reading month. Will and Testament was a 5 star read, so good. Woodworking was funny without minimising trauma. Robin Hobb books continue to be great. Both Terraformers and We Pretty Pieces of Flesh were worth persevering with.

Well Big Book August went terribly. I took ages to read Heavenly Tyrant and just didn't have much concentration all month.

Halfway through, this is so good.

Well, Big Book August is going terribly. It turns out if I ignore pacing and go to several fringe shows and stay out until midnight on a terrace bar, no pages are getting read.

All the books I finished in July #booksky

I have one book I'm halfway through, will finish that today and the. Start on Big Books August.

Books over 500 pages only. Time for some serious immersion.

Hey #booksky I have an August challenge I am inviting people to join.

It's Big Books August. The evenings are slowly getting shorter, in Edinburgh the buses are getting slower (because of the festival), my reading has been going well and I am going to dedicate August to reading books over 500 pages

Edinburgh closes earlier every year.

Fuck the festivals.

Rumour has it, some people don't find an extra chance to vote exciting.

Sounds fake

The by election leaflet I just got does not seem likely to inspire SNP voters to go for them.

(The area has some quite deep Tory tendancies, so not necessarily bad branding but likely to put off many.)

My books have been stored in various places over the years, and I have other bookcases, but finally no books in boxes unless they are leaving the house is within touching distance. Soon.

Ali Hazelwood really did flick through a list of problematic power dynamics and say 'hold my beer'

I've not read anything by her, but this one is tempting, ngl.

Anyway, sometimes time is not a flat circle and I am back in Edinburgh. Next year will be 30 years since I ran away to London.
