The political outrage machine, is really running on fumes under Leo, to be angry about this lol.

Oh noes, a Catholic priest blessed some water, totally not a thing every one of them does weekly.

After being hung out to dry by Pope Leo in respect of his inconsistency, Cupich has beat an embarrassing retreat, but its worth noting his whining here would suggest Bishop Barron could justly give JD Vance an award for fighting against gender ideology.

Also, this argument was full of shit before Dobbs, since as Pope Leo recently reminded an unjust law is no law at all.

And its even dumber now the Supreme Court has held the US Constitution never did that.

No person of any intellectual integrity, who cares even in the slightest for making a coherent argument, could put these two sentences together in the same article.

But here they are together.

I mean, we do say that, it was almost conventional to say in relation to e.g. Japanese kamikaze pilots.

CS Lewis also made this point in the Screwtape Letters.

I've long known Teilhard de Chardin was a disgusting racist, but learning he thought this about my wife and daughters (proud Indigenous Australian women all), robs me of any remaining patience for his supporters today.

Suggestions from Father Alejandro Moral Antón, O.S.A., Prior General of the Augustinians, that Pope Leo might be replacing many / most of his Curia Prefects after the Summer break.

There are plenty of great Christian arguments for the secular state, but this dude managed to choose one so bad, it literally doesn't even pass as Christian.

This both explains a lot about Francis' failures on clerical abuse, and reduces my hope its going to get better under Leo.

Oh my, I'm not sure Cardinal Czerny could be worse for the chances of a progressive being elected Pope, if he was an agent provocateur planted by trads.

And he also wins the Cardinal Kasper award for this conclave's most publicly racist progressive.

Holy crap, if the progressive wing of the Cardinals are all this bad at messaging, they are going to get sidelined so hard.

Imagine telling a periphery Cardinal unity can't be a priority?!?

This from the Germans is explicitly not blessings for individuals / couples, but of unions / relationships, & thus directly opposed to Fiducia Supplicans as clarified.

To release such dissent while the Pope was ill & dying is beneath contempt.

There are many unchangeable or irreversible things in the Church. But in preparing for a new Pope, its important to remember, trying to absolutize the contingent often ends badly.

This was Cardinal Bertone during JPII’s time for example. Don't be the Francis’ version of Bertone.

Was at the parish Easter Vigil, and noticed they were using the Chalice I gave with a dedication to my late grandmother, and now all I can think of is how I still miss her so very much.

Australian government modelling of the impact of Trump's tariffs on his own economy.

If it wasn't going to destroy countless lives, the deep stupidity of this would almost be funny.

He is going to engineer a deep US recession just to blow up US imports. Its insane.

The Trump presidency apparently.

I really wish the Pope's ghost writers would stop quoting the racist pseudo-scientific fraud Teilhard de Chardin.

Humanity's connection with all creation can be found all the way back to the patristic period - You don't need to cite a eugenicist as it's source.

Me right now, after my youngest daughter decided a midnight unsupervised chemistry experiment with slime, would be fun.

The dreaded post Christmas cleaning shift.

Happy Boxing Day everyone. 😀

I don't know man, it's pretty fundamental to Christianity that virtue isn't always rewarded with secular honours, but just as often with degradation & even martyrdom at the hands of the powers of this world.

Live shot of Cardinal Cupich writing about Communion postures.

(seriously, who cares, let people do what works for them).

Pierre Teilhard de Chardin was a disgusting racist and shouldn't be rehabilitated.

(Teilhard writing shortly before his death to insist on eugenics, plus hate on HV for a bonus).

Pierre Teilhard de Chardin was a disgusting racist and shouldn't be rehabilitated.

(Teilhard writing to the UN to tell them they were wrong to combat racism).
