Then also one of the strands wants to wrap itself around the spinning spindle all of its own accord frequently, so I'm often stopping to unwrap it.

I'm plying from two separate bobbins and having trouble keeping things from tangling *before* the spot where plying happens (especially because of the strands curling back on themselves!). I'm using a lazy Kate (but my bobbins are just toilet paper tubes for now, so they're not tensioned).

I've always avoided pre-winding because I was under the impression that keeping the plies separated/at an angle until the moment twist is added is important. So I will experiment with this!
