Argon is heavier than air, and happily stays in an open vessel. The incident might have ended happily, except that the workmate begged the guy to come right back up, and the guy had to prove him wrong by running back and forth in the car, which he did until he fell down. 3/4

One of the workers dropped his wrench, and went to fetch a ladder. His workmate, recalling their training, told him he couldn't go down there, but the guy pointed to the big hatch, open to the air. 2/?

I know of a modern incident (I mustn't say where) where two workers had just removed the hatch from an empty railroad tank car, but it wasn't *really* empty because they ship them full of argon to prevent corrosion. 1/?
