Just finished my reread of this must read book, BETWEEN THE WORLD AND ME by Ta-Nehisi Coates. I think I’ll be teaching this after our Crucible unit is over. Anyone have any during reading activities they love for this? #edusky #booksky 💙📚

In Creative Writing, my 9th and 10th graders did an imitation poem based on Hanif Abdurraqib’s “It Is Maybe Time to Admit That Michael Jordan Definitely Pushed Off.” the only requirement was that it had to include a lot of ampersands in it. Here’s mine 🥰 #edusky #amwriting
cedar point on a hot july night, we’d go to my cousin’s house & ten of us would sleep in one room & we’d stay up too late & it felt weird sleeping in a bed that wasn’t mine & in a room i was never in & i wondered how two boys always shared a room & what it might be like to have a sister instead & we’d talk about our plans for the next day & the rides we couldn’t wait to go on & if it would rain & if it would be crowded & we’d beg each other to be quiet & we’d continue laughing anyway & the morning would come too too soon & we’d pile into cars for the long drive & we’d pretend were were already on our first ride of the day & we’d get out and run to the end of the park because we knew only fools got on the rides closest to the beginning & we’d walk onto the Mean Streak & my mom would call it The Boob Jiggler & i’d get a little headache & my body would float out of my seat & the lap bar would save me & some days i wish real life had a lap bar & some days i wish i could go to the end and work my way back to the beginning.
