Happy to talk your ears off about ADUs, building envelopes, and permit streamlining! I’m a former city planner and current law student. I enjoy walkable cities, succulent gardens, sour pickles, and long train rides.

How awesome! I didn’t know they flipped on this. It’s horrifying how often APA is on the list of groups opposing great housing bills. Great work!

A few weeks ago I was trying to figure out which Addam’s Family movie an actor was in, and google AI hallucinated a totally non-existent movie title paired with the poster of a real Addam’s Family film, paired with a hallucinated cast list. Truly useless

Ah okay, well thanks for the work you are doing! You might check out Casita Coalition who are doing amazing work to support ADUs in CA and nationally - they post great resources. I’m an ADU dork in the Bay Area who worked on the gov side of it for quite some time. Happy to chat about ADUs any time!

That sounds practically and mentally very difficult to deal with as an educator and as a student. How sorry for everyone’s experiences. All of my favorite college courses had fewer than 20 students - there is nothing like the dialogue and engagement you can achieve in those settings.

Wow this is fascinating background. Thank you for sharing your insights. And not surprised but always annoyed to learn yet another nice thing is made harder by a lasting Reagan era policy, ugh!

Thank you for the link, I’ll check this out. I am still relatively new to SF and didn’t realize there is history to the campus expansion idea. But of course I should realize any proposed development in SF is super tentative 😓

I hear Berkeley is looking at a downtown SF campus - opens up living options, though to your point not necessarily cheaper ones. I wonder why leg hasn’t funded additional faculty and encouraged growth? More access to education is only a plus for the state. I’ll have to read about that.

Totally. Plus the political impossibility of creating enough housing to accommodate more students due to very organized local NIMBY groups.
