I recently went to a Black funeral and was so moved by the customs including the homegoing/crowning ceremony. It felt like a privilege to witness but also disconcerting that I, in my 40s with life-long Black friends, was ignorant to its existence. Ever-learning…

My firstborn flew the nest this past weekend and my middle will be following suit at the end of the month. It’s quiet in the house. I like it. This is what you raise your children to do. But my heeeaaaarrttttt…it’s bittersweet to know that chapter of my life with them is over.
