This scene will probably be later in the movie and I think this could be a Wonder Effect happening. Seeing as Bowser Jr's Wonder design is in the movie I would not be surprised if this is the case.

This is when we'll be see Bowser Jr again and the scene from the trailer will play out as we've seen. HOWEVER I think Bowser JR will succeed in getting his father back. This will result in Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Toad splitting off to find Bowser Jr and learn about Rosalina.

Now here's where things start to get difficult to predict since we don't have a lot to go off. By now the castle has already been lifted into space and Mario is back with Luigi and Peach is with Toad.

Following the previous scene is when the Star Festival will happen. I think in this universe this will be the first time it actually happens instead of every 100 years. There will be a scene of Mario and Peach talking, Maybe some Romantic Tension like the first movie?

Now before this upcoming scene is when I'm assuming we'll finally see Yoshi in Brooklyn. I have a slight feeling Yoshi is gonna be the comic relief of this movie and we'll be following him trying to get back home.

When they both arrive at Peach's castle we'll get the Bowser scene from the first trailer. I'm assuming there's more to this scene and we'll see what Bowser has been up to. I think we could see a funny montage of Bowser trying to escape.

After that mission we'll arrive back at the Mushroom Kingdom as a reintroduction to this world. I'm guessing a scene similar to when Mario first arrives in the first movie but instead everyone knows who Mario & Luigi is.

After that it'll cut to the titles and we'll open up with Mario & Luigi driving through Tostarena. After the events of the first movie, they're both known as heroes across the world. So I'm guessing they've been called for a mission.

As soon as the recap is done, Megaleg arrives and attacks the Library (which is the building I'm assuming she steps out of). This is where we'll meet Bowser Jr for the first time as he's controlling Megaleg. After he's defeated I think Kamek or someone will capture Rosalina.

I'm like 99% sure the movie will open up with Rosalina retelling the events of the first movie to the Lumas. She watched over them from the Comet Observatory is my guess or Lumalee told her.
