The preface of my book says that James would write the stories to be read aloud at Christmas. I feel like the stories really work well when recounted aloud!

I had almost the same experience. The day the group schedule wrapped, I was only halfway through. On Labor Day weekend, I finally had an opportunity to catch up and I read almost all of the remaining 150 pages in a single sitting. Unputdownable. 🌰

This August has been a busy one! I’m enjoying the book but I’ve only made it to chapter 8 so far. That puts me about 140 pages behind the group. 😬

The 22-year old was Smith. Her sister, Princess Andorra Krinklepuff, died eight years earlier, back in 2016. I miss them both every day. The hardest thing to adjust to is the quiet, being home by yourself and being truly alone. Sorry again for your loss

I’m sorry to hear about your loss. We lost our 22-year-old cat last year and I still feel like I’m grieving. I recently drew a picture of her favorite cat toys—that I’ve been keeping in a box—as a way of letting go. I thought I’d share it with you.

Still here, but also a few hundred pages behind the group. I just started chapter 28! Really enjoying it though!

I got a used VW ID.4 EV in March and I cannot stop gushing about how great it is. (Used also got us a much better $$$) In April my wife and I took it on a 3,000 mile road trip to the National Parks in Utah. Zero problems. No issues finding charging anywhere. The EV driving experience is unmatched

What a fascinating article! Thanks for sharing it. It was especially intriguing to hear how he sometimes preferred to read books in English rather than Spanish, like Don Quixote.

“Here it is inevitable to recall the case of Shakespeare, who includes on the stage of Hamlet another stage where a tragedy more or less like that of Hamlet is presented.” 🪞

“Cervantes takes pleasure in confusing the objective and the subjective, the world of the reader and the world of the book… In the sixth chapter, a barber inspects Quixote’s library, and one of the books inspected is Cervantes own… It turns out that the barber is a friend of the author.” 🪞🫏

“Why does it disturb us that Don Quixote be a reader of the Quixote and Hamlet a spectator of Hamlet? I believe I have found the reason: these inversions suggest that if the characters of a fictional work can be readers or spectators, we, its readers or spectators, can be fictitious, too.” 🪞🫏
