Some of the media I thought about while reading WHEN TREES TESTIFY by Beronda Montgomery:

BLACK IN BLUES by Imani Perry
SINNERS (the movie)
FORBIDDEN by Beverly Jenkins
THE LIGHT EATERS by Zoe Schlanger
BRAIDING SWEETGRASS by Robin Wall Kimmerer

Book recommendation for 2026: WHEN TREES TESTIFY by Beronda Montgomery coming January 20th 2026.

“Trees hold the transformed breath of decades of human life... and testify to history and those of their past”

I quick thread 🧵 reviewing this book!

Spent today learning from these amazing chemists!

Thank you @acs.org for the invitation to DC to talk about ways to promote chemistry to the public!

I finished reading V IS FOR VENOM by Kathryn Harkup yesterday.

I love the mix of history, true crime, literature, and chemistry in both this book and A IS FOR ARSENIC.

Harkup does such a good job describing the chemistry of the different poisons.

The #chemsky will love this one! 🧪⚛️🐍

What’s everyone reading this weekend?

I finished THE EARL WHO GOT AWAY yesterday (*loved*)

And now I’m reading HOW TO ADHD. This book is so relatable and helpful I think I’m going to go buy a hard copy I can highlight.

I gravitate to other moms making music. Cardi sings about motherhood a lot.

I really relate to her as someone who was also a “young mom” (lol I think she was 25 and I was 26 when my daughter was born but people acted like I was 16)

The imagery of her breastfeeding in Money healed something in me.

I’m a romantic and Golden Hour is the most romantic album I’ve ever listened to in my life!!!

Men, take note of Butterflies. Kacey gives yall the blueprint.

My brother-in-law introduced me to sleep token a little over a year ago and I could not stop listening to this album.

Metal meets broadway with tons of chemistry references? Extremely my shit

I feel like I grew up right with P!nk.

Our daughters were born the same year and witnessing her evolution through her music has made me feel seen.

Also no one puts on a better live show than P!nk. She is truly incredible.

Beautiful Trauma is my fav 🥹

Yall I just saw DC live for the second time in August and when he opened with Best Deceptions I was seriously so happy I started crying.

No skips on The Places You Have Come To Fear The Most

Linkin Park will always be my favorite. My go-to “I need to focus music” 😂

I’m partial to Hybrid Theory and Meteora

Favorite metric albums (I honestly love them all)

Also I’ve seen metric live 3x and they put on the best live show

Favorite Charli album: absolutely zero skips

My promotion packet is due soon so I sat down and wrote out the writing workshops I've taken to improve my creative nonfiction skills... and... it is A LOT

Writing a book was an entire process for me. I'm especially grateful for Sarah Elizabeth Schantz at Lighthouse in Denver.

Something about learning the drums as a middle-aged lady:

It’s boosting my empathy for my students in my chemistry classes. 🥁🧪

I already play the piano, but even still— learning a new instrument requires so much practice and getting comfortable with not being good at something.
