I recently finished this gouache painting during a 12‑hour drawing session. I know there’s still plenty of room for improvement, but after wrestling with color for so long, I can’t help but feel happy with how it turned out.

🔴This small soft pastel painting was an experiment with reduced colour. The reference I was working with, if I remember correctly, was orange flowers, lots of green and a blue sky.

I’ve been working on improving my use of color with mixed results, so I decided to switch to a medium I’m more comfortable with.

This is the result of a 9-hour session with a live model.
