Pain is real, but so is addiction. Prescription opioids were involved in approximately 14,716 overdose deaths in 2022. Pretending Oxy is no longer an issue doesn't just help no one - it actively misinforms and puts people at risk.

Multiple studies show that even patients with legitimate pain can develop dependence and addiction, especially with long-term use. Pain and addiction aren’t mutually exclusive.

Also, the idea that people in pain "don’t get addicted" because the euphoric effects are neutralized by their pain? That’s a myth not supported by current research.

Actually, OxyContin is still on the market. It's just in a reformulated, abuse-deterrent version (which, by the way, is not abuse-PROOF). Purdue Pharma’s original version may be gone, but extended-release oxycodone is still prescribed.

Children's Health Defense immediately jumps on it. RFK Jr. is monster who personally profits off of the sick and dying.

Grifters do as grifter does.

Once hope comes home with me, I'll tend to it and care for it. I'll mind it well so it doesn't go missing. This time, I'll never take it for granted again.

That's a promise I won't break.

Did it truly die away or leave me? Well, I plan to go out and find it.

I owe it to that version of me. It is the absolute least my daughter, who turns 3 months old today, deserves of her mother.

And when I find it, wherever it went, I'll revive it first. I'll scoop it up and carry it home with me.

I am really struggling to figure out what happened here. I need to make sense of this. My crunchy, eccentric (but, by all accounts, liberal) brother really, truly believed RFK Jr. would win. He seemed brainwashed. Now he's all in for Trump. Is there anything out there that explains this phenomenon?

...I don't even know how to respond anymore. I don't know what to say. I very hesitantly returned to the classroom this year for my 13th year. I burned out badly, but I can't afford to take time off. The lack of support turned to active aggression toward teachers and the profession. How defeating.
