oh, hi 😂

I hope this is helpful! if you have questions about what is and isn't okay, feel free to ask me directly, I'm happy to clarify those boundaries in individual conversations elsewhere. 💖 (11/11)

if you're with me in person, please do NOT touch or move my wheelchair without my consent. mobility aids are effectively extensions of someone's body, & consent is always so important. (10/11)

secondly, using a mobility aid doesn't mean I need more help with things! while mobility aids can absolutely come with challenges, I categorically need less help with my wheelchair than when I'm walking. (9/11)

sharing my life while in a wheelchair is not the same as providing medical updates publicly - I'm really just existing in the way that works for me, just like anyone else. (8/11)

if this happens on any of my social media accounts I will do my best to provide some education (likely directing folks here) but if it's a repeated thing, I'm just going to block, as being asked invasive questions about my health in a public setting makes me uncomfortable. (7/11)

firstly, it is not appropriate to ask someone why they're using a mobility aid. if that information is something I want to share, I will volunteer it, but asking directly is rude & invasive. (6/11)

that said, it has come to my attention that not everyone is on the same page about mobility aid etiquette, so wanted to share some information about that & my own personal boundaries. (5/11)

the current (blue) wheelchair is a loaner & I will not keep it permanently, but it's what I have while we work towards getting a custom chair that will better support my needs. (4/11)

please don't express sadness or apologies regarding a support that is making it easier for me to live my life & spend less of it in the hospital or doctors' offices. this is good :) (3/11)

use of a wheelchair is something my team has been recommending & that we've been working towards for some time. the fact that it is now happening is a good thing. (2/11)

I want to clarify that this isn't because of anything bad happening at my job! I just don't want the teenagers I'm working with to find my socials lol
